Torre, is organically run and has been producing wines for over 20 years.
The specific aim of the family Costa is to highlight the distinction of the Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc produced in Modigliana with its unique natural characteristics with the collaboration of figures such as the oenologist Donato Lanati and the agronomist Andrea Paoletti.
Modigliana is located in the Apennine mountains between Romagna and Tuscany on land that 30 million years ago was the seabed. This has created a specific geological condition, the marly arenaceous, which gives a mineral and salty taste to our wines.
The altitude of the vineyards is between 300 and 600 m above sea level, ideal for Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc to reach full maturity during their long growth cycle.
The pride of the company is Vigna 1922 Sangiovese produced from an ancient vineyard planted in 1922: in 2000 the Costa family discovered a very rare vineyard dated, after a series of researches, to 1922. A rarity in Romagna, and perhaps even nationally, which inspired a different project from the initial one of pure territorial recovery, and which instead gave impetus to a process of “archaeological recovery” of this vineyard.
The company also cultivates and makes wine from the other indigenous grape variety, the typical white of the region: Albana, with which it produces a late harvest wine.
