Cusumano has become one of the most relevant wineries of Southern Italy in only 20 years, thanks to their ability and willfulness to valorise the varieties and terroirs of Sicily. Alta Mora is a project of brothers Diego and Alberto, that with their father Francesco acquired three ‘contrade’ of the nothern slope of mount Etna. Guardiola is one of such ‘contrade’, located between 800 and 1000 metres above the sea level, where vines are trained with the traditional ‘alberello, and are more than 150 years old.
Tasting Notes and Pairing: A red ruby coloured wine. To the nose, red fruits, minerality and spices like liquorice emerge elegantly. From the first sip it’s evident that it a rich wine, full-bodied, with greatly integrated tannins and of great persistance. To pair with a Nebrodi black pig fillet. Song: Summertime, Ella Fitzgerald.
Suggested serving temperature: 16-18°C
in the vineyard:
Grapes are handpicked with the help of small baskets.
Production method and aging: After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. The skins remain in contact with the must for 18-21 days, at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Then, malolactic fermantation occurs in wooden barrels, and fining continues in both large oak barrels and tonneaux.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.
Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.
EVENTS
Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.
Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
