Andrea Franchetti è stato uno dei primi produttori a scommettere sul potenziale del vulcano, stabilendo la cantina Passopisciaro nel 2000. Sul versante nord dell’Etna, ha trovato viti ad alberello tra i 70 e i 100 anni di età e tra i 550m e i 1000m s.l.m. Le Contrade più alte giacciono su terreni più ghiaiosi a grana più grossa, mentre quelle più basse su terreni più fini e profondi composti da colate laviche più antiche.Il Passorosso è composto da un assemblaggio di uve di Nerello Mascalese provenienti da diversi vigneti situati a quote diverse. La prima annata è stata prodotta nel 2001. Con l’annata 2014 Passorosso diventa Etna Rosso DOC.

Note e abbinamenti
Un vino di colore rosso rubino con riflessi granati. I sentori al naso richiamano frutti di bosco, ribes nero, poi note minerali di cenere e grafite, anice. In bocca è intenso, croccante, e si percepiscono agrumi, col passare degli anni si arricchisce con aromi di spezie e legno di sandalo. Eccezionale con piatti intensi come la trippa alla palermitana. In cantina
Le uve fermentano per 15 e poi il vino viene affinato in botti grandi di rovere per 18 mesi. L’imbottigliamento avviene senza filtrazione.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

  • Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
  • San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.

Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.

EVENTS

  • Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.

Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
