Ruché is for sure one of the flagships of the re-discovered native wine grapes of Piedmont.
Don Giacomo Cauda, priest of Castagnole Monferrato, re-discovers its vines in-between the rows of Barbera and he falls in love for the unique aromatic profile of Ruché and its personality of floral and spicy notes. In 1964, he decides to plant the first vineyards entirely dedicated to the production of this grape.
Thanks to the support of Casangole Monferrato municipality, Ruchè receives DOCG recognition and is now produced over a very selected area, by a handful of passionate producers.
Among those, Luca Ferraris is for sure the most famous one and the one who, in 2016, becomes the owner of the historic vineyard planted by Don Giacomo Cauda, now called “Vigna del Parroco”, with calcareous-clay soil rich in marls, where the most ancient Ruchè vines in production grow. From this vineyards, Luca Ferraris decided to produce a bottle to remember his inspirer and the founder of this wine.
Ruché is a grape characterized by an interesting aromatic complexity, with floral and balsamic notes, spicies and wild berries.
Old vines add armony and roundness to this particular Ruchè. Perfect to pair with a tasty dish, mirroring its exuberance: a varied charcuterie and cheese platter or a rich seasoned salad.
Perfect at 16-18 °C
20% of the must undergoes fermentation and aging in wood tonneaux for 9 months.
