This is a story that crosses the high Langa, at the border with the Monferrato, and the Roero, to meet in La Morra. Poderi Gianni Gagliardo is a young winery with a very long winemaking history: Paolo Colla, producer in Santo Stefano Belbo, moves to La Morra to produce Barolo and leaves its property to his son-in-law: Gianni Gagliardo, who came from Roero. Thanks to this union between the great tradition of the Langhe and the love for Roero, the winery produces local, traditional wines of great quality, with great care for the different wine regions and soils.
The Nebbiolo d’Alba San Ponzio is an example of this philosophy: vinified with the same oak aging as a Barolo, the grapes come from a single vineyard in the Roero, from calcareous-sandy soils typical of the area and east exposure. An interesting experiment to show the charm of Roero and its potential for a unique expression of Nebbiolo.
Today, the passion of the winery for its territory grows on with a new acquisition in Monferrato, to prove onee more the richness and variety of every soil and its potential for different grapes and excellences.
Sweet spices, balsamic notes, dried fruit and chocolate aromas, with delicate tannins, make this an enjoyable wine, perfect with cheese and seasoned meat dishes.
Best served at 16-18 °C
The winery is Certified Organic, with use of Biodynamic principles and holistic approach to take care of the overall balance of the vineyards and of the environment.
