Valtriversa, Clandestino 2019
“Valtriversa is the name of our winery and our land, we have chosen to be ambassadors of our territory, our traditions, the long history of our hills.
Valtriversa is located on the south-western border of the Basso Monferrato Astigiano and consists of a small group of villages and hamlets. From a geological point of view, its history dates back to the Villafranchian period, between 2 and 4 million years ago, during which marine sediments emerged. The area is full of silent witnesses of this time, from small shells to large fossils of prehistoric mammals. A sandy land, rich in life, enhanced by the most important element: water. In this special environment, we decided to cultivate two grapes that perfectly complement the soil: the Verdejo variety and the Barbera.
All this has happened thanks to our friendship, born between bicycles with wheels and adventures in the hills of Valtriversa, always in search of village festivals and stage dances. In the world of wine we have travelled different roads: Matteo and Gianpiero among vineyards and barrels, Matteo around the world to promote wine. We have crossed paths to cultivate friendship and pursue a common dream: to rediscover our territory, and to do so with our wines. ”

Erpacrife, Metodo Classico Dosaggio Zero, Rosato Autoctono
The Erpacrife Project is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and we are delighted to celebrate it with them and with all the members of the San Maurizio Wine Club!
The grapes come from a vineyard in Madonna di Como (below the commune of Alba), at 550 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested one month before the harvest for the reds. Thanks to the light maceration and the richness of tannins that characterise the Nebbiolo vine, the wine has a rosy colour. No dosage is added to the cuvée at the time of disgorging, so as not to alter the originality of the base wine in any way. According to the producers “it is the photographic negative of Nebbiolo, the white on black that creates a unique rosé.

Petrolo, Bòggina A 2019
Tenuta Petrolo, in the Val d’Arno di Sopra, was part of the ancient medieval fiefdom of “Galatrona”, of which the tower built on Roman foundations still exists. In the 1980s, the owners, the Bazzocchi family, undertook a productive change based exclusively on the extreme search for quality, with the identification and personalised care of the different micro-terroirs of the estate vineyards. Since 2004, the company has been completely committed to natural and sustainable practices, both in the vineyard and in the winery.
Bòggina is the company’s historic vineyard, planted for the first time with Sangiovese in 1947. The vines have been replanted over the years with a scrupulous massal selection of the original clones. The wine, 100% Sangiovese, is produced in terracotta amphorae, with spontaneous fermentation, native yeasts and prolonged contact with the skins, which allows the addition of very few sulphites.

Gillardi, Harys 2019
“This is the first pure Syrah from Piedmont. The name Harys is a reverse anagram of the grape variety. The label changes colour from year to year: now it’s just a game, but in the early 1990s it was a technical choice (at the time it was a ‘table wine’, the vintage was not included on the label and so the colour was used to identify the vintage).
A great wine from the Langa, but one that goes beyond the traditional Piedmontese grape varieties. Richness and intensity of colour and fragrance, spices and red berry fruit, fleshy but at the same time very elegant.”
Giacolino Gillardi
Year after year, your collection will be enriched with an enviable palette of colours and quality.

Paitin, Barbaresco Basarin 2018
A real premiere: first year of production for this wine, from the hands of a winery that turns everything it touches into a work of art.
“The first time we tried Basarin, it gave us that impression you get when you open a window in a country house on a summer morning: a fresh, flowery, herbal vibrant, energetic and penetrating feeling. It will take time to find out how this day will continue.”
Luca Pasquero Elia
Marco Marengo, Barolo Brunate 2012
This wine was selected directly from the historic San Maurizio winery by Andrea Alciati (Guido da Costigliole), specially chosen from among his favourite wines to share with Wine Club members.
A double opportunity: to taste (and collect) a Barolo that is a few years older, from one of the most fascinating “cru” of La Morra, Brunate, and to discover an exceptional producer, Marco Marengo, a small family business that has made the motto “quality rather than quantity” a real philosophy. One of the wineries that still manages to stay “off the radar” in this area, also because of the choice of production: a few varieties, those typical of the area, and only 6,000 bottles of this wine, the real workhorse of the company.
MgA Brunate is located on the border between La Morra and Barolo and is mentioned for its vocation to viticulture already in the writings of the 19th century. The soils are rich in Marne di Sant’Agata fossils, calcareous sediments and clay, and the significant temperature range gives wines that are as rich in bouquet as they are in body, while maintaining the elegance typical of these soils. It is not for nothing that today this cru is cultivated by some of the most historic producers in the area.
