Vignale Monferrato, north of Alessandria, in the Monferrato Casalese area, is the homeland of Accornero family: ambassador of this land’s wines since the end of the XIX Century. The Accornero family has a very long farming history, but the winery officially starts its activities in 1897, with the purchase of the Cascina Ca’ Cima and surrounding land. Here, the Accornero family starts producing the typical local varieties: Grignolino, Freisa, Malvasia di Casorzo and, above all, Barbera. The winery manages to deliver some of the best expressions of these grapes in the whole area, thanks to the care in the vineyard and cellar management and thanks to the soils: mostly clay-calcareous with a layer of tuff, gifting the wines with intensity and a fresh minerality.
The Barbera that owns the name of the estate is a special label, produced with grapes of the Cima area only, and released in special years. The grapes are selected and harvested very ripe and undergo an aging in new small French oak.
Round and powerful body, with notes of jam and ripe fruits. The good acidity keeps this wine fresh and lively, in spite of its demanding structure. Pairs well with meat sausage pasta, meat main courses or Asian dishes.
