Fontanin is the name of our house and is the diminutive of the surname Fontana that, about 200 years ago, transferred to Castiglione Falletto municipality. And this Barolo comes from the grapes of two “crus” of Castiglione Falletto: Mariondino and the vineyard Serra, in Villero, both of them close to the border with Monforte municipality and the Bussia “cru”. Born at 300-350 meters above sea level, from soils characterized by a marbled-sandstone structure with sandy veins, this Barolo embodies elegance and finesse, typical of these area.
Tasting Notes and Pairing: Elegant tannins and an articulated profile: spices, floral notes supported by a deep intensity.
Great to pair with delicate game dishes or soft seasoned cheeses.
Suggested serving temperature: It can be served slightly more chilled, at about 17-18°C or at 19-20°C for a touch of warmth and softness.
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.

Production method and aging: Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, with délestage and pumping-over. Aging in big oak casks and in bottle for a total of 40 months.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.
Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.
EVENTS
Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.
Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
