The Rocca family, who is farmer in Barbaresco from the XIX Century and producer of wine bottled as “Bruno Rocca” from 1978, has always been driven by the founder’s motto: “our land, not the producer, is inscribed on the wine”. The profound respect for nature and agriculture led the family to an effort in deeply studying the vines and experimenting, in order to better understand the characters and nobility of each single vine, each grape, so that now they can count on a “database” of clones and vines with the aim of keep studying and protecting the richness and variety of the territory.
Nebbiolo Fralù (coming from Francesco and Luisa, the children of Bruno) is born from the yongest vines of the property, with the aim of expressing the freshness and aromas of this grape on Barbaresco soil. As such, the fermentation happens in cooler temperature than usual and no new oak is used for aging. The balanced and armonic 2016 vintage is perfect for Nebbiolo, and this wine in particular, to perfectly express itself.
Crunchy and bright notes of berries and red fruits, together with a pleasant acidity, are matched in the mouth by a round intensity, making this wine perfect for tasty dishes: a rich starter, pot-pie, ragu pasta or fatty meat.
Best served at 16-18 °C
Organic (certified but not written on label), manual harvest, clonal studies and creation of database of selected vines in a experimental vineyard.
Spontaneous fermentations, 10 months in used french oak barriques, no fining and filtering when bottling.
