Description:

Among the most awarded and appreciated in the region, Pichon Lalande stands out for the softness and sensuality of its wines. A signature style of the Château, but also an excuse to tell a story of women in the world of wine.
The property, in fact, has been living for a long time under the influence of female figures of great resourcefulness and sensitivity, who have made the fortune of this name and its wines. Initially part of a larger possession of the Pichon Longueville family, it was then divided between sons and daughters equally and continued its life, until the formation of the two Contemporary Châteaus: Comtesse Lalande and Baron.
The two estates are also strongly characterized in terms of style: Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande presents unique wines, thanks to the high percentage of Merlot within the blend, an unusual choice in Pauillac and in the “Left Bank” of Bordeaux in general.
Thanks to its position, in the fortunate region of Pauillac, in the Médoc, bordering the estates of Château Latour and Château Lynch-Bages, the property has the ambitious recognition of “Deuxième Cru” (Second Growth) in the classification of “Gran Cru Classé” and is often indicated its potential to be reconsidered as a “Premier Cru” (First Growth), making its wines among the most coveted, and still reasonably priced.
In 2007, the owners of the Champagne Roederer house acquired the estate, without however altering the characteristic style, despite the increase in the percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, to give greater structure to the wine.


Tasting Notes and Pairing:
Intense and fascinating, pleasant black and ripe fruits are enriched by notes of sweet tobacco, spices and herbs and supported by powerful tannins and a complex structure.
To be paired with hard cheeses, baked vegetables or with a soft and tasty meat dish.
Suggested serving temperature:
16-18 °C
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.

Sustainable agriculture, with biological and biodynamic approaches.
Production method and aging:
Fermentation in stainless steel. Aged in French barriques (55% new) for 18 months.

EVENTS

  • Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.

Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
