Domaine Dugat-Py, whose name as it is today was established in 1994, can count on a history of thirteen generations of winemakers. The roots of the estate, located the Gevrey Chambertin appellation, date back to the 17th century and today it is among the most sought-after producers in the area. The very long tradition of quality is revealed in the deep knowledge of the territory and in the legacy left by previous generations: extremely suitable lands, expanded over the years, vines selected over time and therefore a surprising number of “Très Vieilles Vignes”: extremely old vines, over 65 years old.
Cuvée Cœur de Roy is the wine dedicated specifically to the oldest vines of the property, which grow in three different municipalities of Gevrey Chambertin. The vines, here, are between 50 and 99 years old and this has led the property to decide to vinify them separately to create a wine of extreme interest, concentration and long aging. This is certainly one of the examples that a Burgundy wine does not need to fall within the appellation of “Cru” to be a true excellence.
Super-ripe red fruits, a rich and full wine that still manages to be clean and fresh, enriched by tertiary earthy aromas, a light toasted hint and a mineral note. Long, spicy finish.
To pair with a fillet and a side dish of sautéed mushrooms.

Use of 75% whole bunches. Aging in wood (65% new) for 16-18 months.
