Description:

The Marquises de (of) Frescobaldi are an ancient and noble Tuscan family who moved from the countryside to Florence, while maintaining a vocation strongly linked to the land. In fact, as early as the 14th century, the family entered the business of wine production, with important customers and a historical bond with the artists of the time. Today, with its numerous estates in Tuscany, special projects and with the purchase of some pearls of the region, the family confirms faithful to its past and its land and ready to experiment new paths for the future, under the guidance of Lamberto Frescobaldi.
Castello Nipozzano is a medieval building, just outside the city of Florence, in the prestigious sub-area of ​​Chianti Rufina. The name of the estate comes from the words “with no well”, demonstrating that the area was particularly poor of water and therefore perfect for growing grapes. Here, in the mid-19th century, the property also decided to experiment with the production of international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Montesodi is a plot of about 20 hectares whose name refers, in a similar way, to a hilly exposure and a soil rich in stones, drained, and poor in nutrients. The vineyard, located at 400 meters above sea level with south-west exposure is considered the area of ​​the estate most suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese, since its first production in purity in 1974.
2006 was an excellent vintage for the whole Tuscany, with balance between rains and dry sunny days, and with a good temperature range.


Tasting Notes and Pairing:
Ripe, bright and tasty fruit. Berries and cherry, light floral and spicy notes, good acidity and soft tannins.
The property recommends pairing it with kid or with a pan-fried pigeon.
Suggested serving temperature:
16-18 °C
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.

Sustainable agriculture certified AgriQualità, limited intervention, certification for sustainable management of forests.
Production method and aging:
Fermentation in stainless-steel, 18 months in barriques, then 6 months in the bottle.
