Description:

The Chiniera vineyard, in the Gavarini cru in Monforte, is located at 350-400 meters. above sea level, and the altitude, combined with a relatively not compact calcareous-sandy soil..
The Elio Grasso winery was born at the beginning of the 80s, but it is already registered as one of the excellences of Barolo. Chiniera is undoubtedly one of the company’s excellences and 2004 is considered a particularly lucky vintage for Barolo, also thanks to a mild autumn and a late harvest.
To date, the company has decided to maintain a dimension that would allow the family management to control all stages of production, with particular attention to the work in the vineyard, which the founder Elio takes care of, and to the knowledge of the territory, making each wine separately vineyard. To this is added a great industriousness and care in the production, which make these wines more followed and awarded year after year.


Tasting Notes and Pairing:
Precision and purity, floral aromas, red fruits and a marked minerality. Bright and balanced between intensity and freshness, this wine best reflects the style of the house.
Perfect with a soft filled pasta, a cheese fondue or stew.
Suggested serving temperature:
It can be served slightly more chilled, at about 17-18°C or at 19-20°C for a touch of warmth and softness.
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.

Production method and aging:
Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless-steel. aged in oak barrels for 24-30 months.

  • Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
  • San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.

Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.

EVENTS

  • Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.

Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
