The “For England” sparkling wine was created in the 1920s for the British market. It was a time when the British were developing a taste for dry bubbles. Between 1950s-1960s “For England” was introduced to the Italian market where it immediately enjoyed great success. The vineyards are located in the Bossolasco area, between 700 and 800 meters of altitude. The soil is rich of calcareous marl, strongly characterized by calcium carbonate, silt and white sand.
Tasting Notes and Pairing: The For England Blanc de Noir’s nose is full of white fruit with notes of flowers and citrus. The palate offers flavor of mandarin and pink grapefruit. The finish is dry and fresh, with a persistent perlage. Porcini mushroom risotto, lamb in hazelnut crust.
Suggested serving temperature: 6-8°C.

Production method and aging:
After destemming, the grapes are crushed without pressure. From the pressed grape we obtain free run must, which is the most precious part of the juice. The first fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks; followed by almost 9 months of aging again in stainless steel and then the wine is bottled. The second fermentation takes place in bottle and is followed by almost 40 months aging on its lees. Riddling is done by hand.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.
Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.
EVENTS
Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.
Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
