Description:
Matteo Correggia’s Roero Riserva comes from the “Roche d’Ampsej” vineyard. The bricco on which the vineyard extends is wedged for a good part in the Rocche area, whose most significant botanical characteristic is the presence of Scots pine, historically suited to agriculture. The vineyard extends from east to southwest at an altitude of 280-315 meters above sea level, with soils rich in fine and coarse sand, enriched with clay.
It is a wine that reminds me of the ability to dream, to go beyond appearances, to grasp what is not yet, but could become. The first time I saw the vineyard it was no longer recognizable, abandoned, uncultivated, forgotten for years,
for decades, but through Matteo’s eyes I saw it: beautiful, lush, productive, with those bunches of Nebbiolo kissed by the sun.
A vineyard, which was first of all a dream in the mind of a man, ardently desired, wanted, today gladdens the hearts of wine lovers and I feel honored to have seen it first, when the eyes of imagination were still needed.
A wine that I adore with aged cheeses and, at the end of the meal, after dessert. With that last sip that from the palate descends to the heart, keeping me company in nostalgic dreams.”
