Rocca delle Macìe is the project of the Italian film producer Italo Zingarelli, in whose portfolio we find, among others, the spaghetti-western films of the couple Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
Passionate wine lover, in 1973 he decided to enter this world in first person, as a producer, buying the estate “Le macìe”, a property in the Chianti Classico area, of which however only 2 hectares out of almost 100 were cultivated with vineyard.
With further acquisitions of estates and land and with the entry of the other family members into the Company, the estate takes the shape of what it is today.
The producer takes care of the vineyards, as well as of the technologies in the cellar, with important choices, including stylistic ones, such as the use of large barrels and non-barriques for the Riserva.
2016 is one of the lucky vintages for the Chianti Classico area and the Rocca delle Macìe Reserve is no exception in enhancing the characteristics of this appellation.
Excellent fragrant red fruit, enlived by spicy notes.
Freshness is balanced by soft but structured tannins.
Excellent to combine with full-bodied first courses or grilled meat.
