Description:

The Russiz Superiore estate, in Capriva del Friuli in the Collio, a region east of Friuli Venezia Giulia, boasts a history of over 700 years, during which, viticulture gradually emerges as one of the most relevant activities thanks to the position and to the soil composition. Already at the end of the 18th century, the vineyards of the property were classified as one of the best “crus” in the region, under the banner of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The estate, located in a strategic position above the then municipality of Russiz (hence, “Superiore”), presents all its vineyards in a single body around the property, on the characteristic soil of this area of ​​Friuli: the famous “ponca”, a composition of highly impermeable marl and sandstone, dating back to the oceanic era.
The Felluga family, wine merchants for over a hundred years, led by the personality of Marco, founder of the homonymous winery in the Collio, manages to take possession of the Russiz Superiore estate. However, given the exposure and the characteristic of this place, they decide to keep the two realities, and labels, distinct, in order to continue to enhance this centuries-old excellence of the region.


Tasting Notes and Pairing:
Pinot Bianco: Aromas of white flowers, apple, citrus tones to the nose. In the mouth it displays, white fruit and a floral touch.
Perfect to combine with an aperitif of mixed vegetables, a quiche and delicate cheeses or with a first course seasoned with vegetables and mushrooms.
Sauvignon Blanc: Extremely fine wine, with notes of herbs, peach and citrus. In the mouth it opens to a fresh acidity, sage and apricot, with a final mineral note.
Perfect for vegetable first courses and tasty fish preparations.
Suggested serving temperature:
10-12 °C
in the vineyard:
Low-impact viticulture. Manual harvest.
Production method and aging:
In stainless-steel on its own lees for 6 months.

  • Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
  • San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.

Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.

EVENTS

  • Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.

Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
