Description:
“Ermanno Costa – Cascina Spagnolo” is in the Roero area. The farm in in the centre of an amphitheatre of vineyards facing south, on the same hill were the Church of San Defendente was built, a hill historically devoted to viticulture. The six hectars contain 5 vine varieties: Arenis, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and Brachetto. We are convinced that the quality of the wine has its origin in the vine and not in the cellar, therefore the manual and mechanized processes are made personally with the best of attention and professionality.
Tasting Notes and Pairing:
Wine of a tenuous straw yellow colour. The aroma is delicate with vegetal and floral scents. This wine has an important structure, thanks to the southern exposure of the vineyards, and a strong sapidity, whThe southern exposure and the sandy soil, typical of the Roero area, enhance to the maximum the potential of this vine variety. The wine obtained is a very intense garnet red, with very visible ruby shades. The aroma is enveloping and complex. It gives its best after an accurate oxygenation in the decanter. Its intense structure allows a long aging.ich permit an excellent aging.

As of 2018, we adhere to the SQNPI Sustainable Agriculture Certification, which consists of complying with the European regulations on plant protection products to be used in the vineyard and in the winery.
Our goal is to arrive at harvest with 0% residue of phytosanitary products inside the grapes.
We do not use herbicides and we use only mechanical work under the row.
In order to be SQNPI certified, every year we undergo controls on grapes, leaves and wine to ensure the best control.
We have no employees and in the vineyard, as in the cellar, we follow everything in first person.
