Description:

“Rocche dell’Annunziata” is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious “crus” of the Municipality of La Morra. The Scavino family, who founded the winery in 1921, in Castiglione Falletto, bought this vineyard in 1990 and decided to to produce its Barolo Riserva, as part of the company’s project to treat only the most traditional vines of the territory and to purchase a selection of the most voted vineyards. For this reason, Rocche dell’Annunziata completes the “collection” of the winery, which produces 4 other single cru Barolos, including the famous Cannubi, produced since 1985.
Both Barolos, the Riserva Rocche dell’Annunziata and the Cannubi, are exposed to the south, south-east, from very old vines (especially since Rocche dell’Annunziata will be partially re-planted in 2000) and both wines achieved great acclaim and recognition during the year. The two vineyards, however, tell all the differences, characteristics and peculiarities of these two Barolos. Rocche dell’Annunziata is located at 385 meters above sea level, very hard sandstone in depth and soft whitish-light yellow sands in the subsoil intercalated with limestone. Cannubi, on the other hand, is located at 290 meters above sea level. on soils rich in Marne di Sant’Agata.
The 1999 wines are characterized by an important tannic structure, which makes them perfect for a long aging.

Tasting Notes and Pairing:
